Why Join a Fraternity?
Become part of a close-knit group of more than 100 young men who share the same qualities and collegiate goals. With over 50,000 students, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and out of place at UT, but joining a fraternity is a great way to build a core group of friends that will last for the rest of your life.
Phi Psi hosts numerous social events (such as formals, sorority mixers, etc.) throughout the year, which provides many opportunities to meet new people and socialize with friends. We also host events like Parent’s Weekend in the fall, Mom’s and Dad’s Weekends in the spring, and Founder’s Day every February.
Academics & Scholarship
Phi Psi puts a strong emphasis on academics. We provide free tutoring at Austin Learning Center to all active brothers and pledges. Additionally, we reward hundreds of thousands of dollars annually in the form of national and local scholarships to brothers in order to help offset the ever-rising cost of a college education.
Sports & UT Organizations
Phi Psi actively participates in University sponsored intramural sports like football, softball, and basketball. As a brother of Phi Psi, you also become eligible for other University sponsored organizations, including the Silver Spurs, who take care of BEVO (the UT mascot), and Texas Cowboys, who are in charge of firing the cannon at all UT football games.
Phi Psi teaches leadership skills in a way no other student organization can compare to. As a brother, you work with and lead other young men to continue a tradition of excellence that has been in existence for 161 years. Additionally, each spring, brothers are invited to Cabo San Lucas to take part in the American Leadership Academy hosted by Brother Jerry Nelson (Founder of Ticketmaster) and other world-renowned Phi Psi alumni including CEOs of major corporations, established entrepreneurs, and even U.S. Congressmen.
Having a large professional network is the biggest asset to a college student about to transition into the working world. Phi Psi alumni from across the nation are constantly hiring recent Phi Psi graduates. A few famous Phi Psi brothers include Dallas Cowboy’s Founder Tex Schramm, U.S. President Woodrow Wilson, and NY Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
